Reflections on Labor Day

Labor Day is the day set aside to commemorate the contributions of America’s workers to our nation. This year’s holiday presents a good time to compare and contrast the stand on labor in this country taken by each of the presidential candidates on the ballot in November.

In order to avoid boring readers with the feelings of yours truly let’s turn to what AI has to say.

“Donald Trump has had a complex relationship with labor unions. During his presidency, he expressed support for workers but often clashed with union leadership, especially in public sectors like education and government. Trump criticized unions for their political leanings and challenged regulations that unions supported. However, he also claimed to support workers’ rights and promoted policies aimed at boosting job creation in manufacturing and other industries. His administration rolled back several labor protections, which led to tension with many unions.

Kamala Harris is a strong supporter of labor unions. Throughout her career, she has advocated for workers’ rights and has aligned herself with union causes. As Vice President, she has promoted policies aimed at strengthening unions, such as supporting the PRO Act, which would make it easier for workers to organize and collectively bargain. Harris believes that unions play a crucial role in protecting workers, ensuring fair wages, and reducing income inequality. Her stance is consistent with broader Democratic Party efforts to bolster labor rights.”

Our Labor Day weather will begin with morning clouds that will give way to afternoon sunshine. High temperatures will reach a comfortable 80 degrees.

Tuesday will be even better with brilliant sunshine and temps near 75 degrees.

Now that all area schools are in session as of tomorrow please do not allow the beautiful weather to interfere with your duty to drive responsibly and keep an eye on our children.
