Mount Washington is a must-visit location for weather enthusiasts because it is home to the highest recorded wind speed on the surface of the Earth and some of the harshest weather conditions in the world. It provides a unique opportunity to observe and study extreme weather patterns and the impact of wind and weather on the environment. Additionally, the Mount Washington Observatory offers educational programs, guided tours, and hands-on learning opportunities for visitors to deepen their understanding and appreciation of weather science.
Having previously visited the Mount Washington Observatory, it remains on this weather blogger’s bucket list of things to do over again. The drive up and down the mountain is better than any roller coaster that one could dream to ride.
For those who have never visited, Mount Washington is just over 600 miles to the north of Salisbury and can be reached after close to an eleven hour drive.
So, the Delmarva version of frigid begins today with temperatures in the teens that will rise close to freezing under sunny skies. Breezes will subside.
Sunday, believe it or not, will be 20 degrees warmer as some clouds roll in. Highs are expected in the low 50’s.
