Temperatures today are expected to reach the upper 90’s as the current heat wave continues. Some areas could, but probably will not, reach record breaking levels as no rain relief is expected before Tuesday.
The SBYWX.blog weather station record high for July 24 is 100.2 degrees in 2010, the 10th of 11 consecutive days above 90 degrees. It is unlikely that Salisbury will reach that record breaking level today.

Note that Salisbury also hit 100 degrees earlier that month, on the 7th.
The highest all-time temperature reading that has occurred at the SBYwx.blog weather station is 101.2 degrees. That has happened twice; most recently on July 8, 2012, as well as on July 23, 2011.
The summer of 2012 was particularly hot on Delmarva as Salisbury even reached 100 degrees (99.7 to be exact) on June 29.
No 100 degree readings have been recorded in Salisbury for the past 10 years. It is interesting, however, that Salisbury reached 100 degrees or more in three consecutive years from 2010 through 2012.
Some may say “so much for global warming” if we have not reached 100 degrees in 10 years.
Not so fast, my friends! It is staying warmer overnight. The average daily temperature for the month of July 2012 was 79.8 degrees when we topped 100 on multiple occasions.

July 2020, just two years ago, was actually Salisbury’s warmest month. We never reached 100 degrees that summer yet the average daily temperature for the month was 80.2 degrees…nearly a half a degree higher than in 2012.

Hey, the weather may not be cool, but numbers are always cool! They trump selective memory every time!
Monday is expected to be hot as well with temps near 95 degrees. The chance for scattered thunderstorms will reappear Monday evening into Tuesday when temperatures will likely return to a more refreshing level in the low 80’s.
