Winds a bigger issue than the rain

It appears as though rainfall amounts from the coastal storm will be much less than it was thought to be a couple of days ago. While some areas may see amounts well over an inch, particularly in locations near the coast, Salisbury should look for accumulations near a half inch.

Gusty winds are likely to be the biggest issue this afternoon, along with heavy surf and coastal erosion at the beaches. The heaviest of the rain will remain offshore.

This morning’s run of the ECMWF gives a good indication of what to expect.

Today: Windy with rain early…then remaining cloudy with showers for the afternoon. High 66F. Winds NE at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.

Tonight: Cloudy and windy at times with periods of rain. Low 57F. Winds N at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of rain 70%. Rainfall near a quarter of an inch. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.

Monday: Cloudy with showers. High 62F. Winds NNW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 50%. Higher wind gusts possible.
