Erin is now a hurricane

Erin’s sustained winds surpassed the 74 mph threshold yesterday making it the season’s first hurricane.

Hurricane Erin has now reached a Category 5 storm with 160 mph winds and is expected to take a path out to sea that parallels the eastern seaboard. It is likely that Erin will pose no direct threat to Delmarva unless the path is drastically altered in some way. The Maryland/Delaware beaches can expect strong riptides and high seas in the days ahead.

Temperatures in Salisbury will continue to top out in the upper 80’s over the next few days. This comes after the beginning of the month featured well below average temperatures.

While July was very wet, with over 6 inches of rain in Salisbury, our area has only recorded .21 inches of rain here through the midpoint of August.
