It seems like we just did this, but here we go again with the annual tradition of asking an animal to predict what our weather may look like over the next 6 weeks.

We joke often about not depending on the weather forecast issued by humans. People need to do what makes them feel good. Just so you know, though, the groundhog has only been right 39% of the time since this silly tradition began back in 1887.

We’d be better off flipping a coin! In fact, that is what PETA has suggested in place of subjecting an animal to throngs of people at sunrise for no apparent reason on an early February morning.

Coin tosses seem to be quite popular in that millions tune in every Sunday to watch them on TV!

Nonetheless, Groundhog Day is today. Enjoy or not! In either case spring will arrive in about 6 weeks. Just check the calendar and you will see why February 2 was chosen for this occasion. It is slap dab in the middle of winter! Yep, we’re halfway there.

In Salisbury we are expecting the return of cloudy skies with temperatures near 48 degrees.

The same sort of temps are expected on Saturday as well under partly sunny conditions.
