For what it’s worth

This blog began six years ago today, for what it’s worth. It was a Sunday without football so there was plenty of time to devote to its creation. A regional team, the Philadelphia Eagles went on to defeat the New England Patriots by a score of 41 to 33 in Super Bowl LII on the following Sunday.

This is the 2295th post over that period of time. In the six years that have gone by the NFL has lengthened the season, so there is football today. While it will not include the Eagles it will include another regional favorite, the Baltimore Ravens who are hoping to advance to this year’s Super Bowl in Las Vegas.

While there is a modest number of loyal followers to this blog it is gratifying to find that, in times of severe weather, the number of people who decide to visit this blog increases quite a bit.

Although mentioned on several occasions in the past it is worth noting again that the views expressed here with regard to the weather come not from a professional, but from an enthusiastic amateur, eager to learn more about historical weather patterns on the Delmarva Peninsula. When dealing with a true weather disaster it is highly recommended that reliance on the National Weather Service is of utmost importance.

It is a source of pride when information shared here is accurate. There have been, however, dozens of occasions when our amateur standing was on full display. Live and learn!

While the intention was never for this blog to deliver information on a daily basis for 6 years, it has become a bit of an historical weather diary when time is taken to read previous posts.

Sincere thanks are offered to the blog’s loyal followers. Please feel free, if you so desire, to share the link sbywx.blog with anyone you feel might be interested. Remind them that it is totally free and that they’ll get their money’s worth.

So, today on this last Sunday of January, we can expect some early morning rain that will lead to a cloudy day. High temperatures should reach the mid 50’s with a chance of scattered showers throughout the remainder of the day.

Clouds are expected to remain on Monday, but it will turn sharply colder, with highs near 45 degrees.
