Here is a friendly reminder that it is still springtime as we sweat under mid 90’s heat today.
During the past week the US has been dominated by a dome of high pressure that has brought all sorts of weather extremes to North America.
Salisbury experienced a wicked storm on Tuesday. Enormous shelf clouds and tornadoes have popped up over the nation’s midsection. Yellowstone National Park has temporarily closed due to unprecedented flooding. Hail, measured in inches, accumulated in Mexico City and, of course, tropical activity has already begun in the Gulf of Mexico.
Mexico City was hit by a freak hailstorm Sunday burying the city in many inches of hail.

It should come to no one’s surprise if Salisbury should reach 96 degrees today. The record temperature for this date in Salisbury is 98 degrees in 1957.
Happy Friday! A very hot day in store with temps in the upper 90s to around 100F and heat indices of 100-104F. Scattered late afternoon and early evening storms are possible with damaging winds the main threat. Much nicer weather returns for the weekend. 🥵->🌩️ #vawx #ncwx #mdwx pic.twitter.com/X3wksh77wN

Some refreshing air is expected to enter the area for the weekend and last for a few days. Tomorrow’s high temperature should reach about 75 degrees under partly cloudy skies.
