A steady light midday snow began falling in Salisbury on this date in 1966. It lasted throughout the day and into the nighttime hours of Christmas Eve, meaning that folks on the Lower Eastern Shore would wake up the next day to 6 inches of snow on a magical Christmas morning.
Christmas of 1967, the following year, tried to keep up with a 2 inch white Christmas. In searching historical records the Christmas celebrations of 1966 and 1967 represent the one and only time that snow fell in Salisbury on back-to-back Christmas holidays.
