I wonder if, in 1843 when Charles Dickens penned “A Christmas Carol”, he fully understood that his story of empathy, or lack thereof, for people in need could stand the test of time and come front and center amid a catastrophic weather event in southwest Kentucky? I bet he did!
Just two weeks before Christmas Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, who is on record opposing FEMA and the distribution of relief funds to victims of Hurricanes Sandy, Harvey, Maria, and Katrina because people having their hands out for relief is socialism…has his hand out for relief.
Well…the federal government acted on such relief hours before Paul requested it because it was clear that Kentuckians had a need and that it mattered not what their political beliefs or affiliation was. Empathy knows no political party. An empathetic government sends relief whether the Senator requests it or not.
Weather is the great equalizer. It teaches valuable life lessons every single day. Never take a beautiful day for granted, nor believe that a single day of darkness will last forever.

Perhaps we wake up this morning with a few less Scrooges in our lives.
Whether you are, or are not, one of the remaining Scrooges among us you, too, will be treated to the same sunny skies and mid 50’s temperatures that we expect on Delmarva. Why? Because good people don’t wish bad things on anyone.
Good morning! While temperatures are currently in the 20s across much of the area, highs are forecast to rise into the mid-upper 50s under sunny skies. Winds will be out of the southwest at 5-10 mph. Have a great week! pic.twitter.com/4A09Ei9VtM

Tuesday will be nice as well just prior to another warming trend on Delmarva. Enjoy the weather while it is nice because we don’t always get what we deserve. We simply get what we get and we deal with it. “Bless us, every one!”
