We’ll get a bit of a reprieve from the really hot weather that we’ve experienced for the past couple of days. May comes to an end today with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 80’s.
The unusually high number of potent storms that much of the US has experienced will stay to our south today. The graphic above illustrates how May of 2019 is on pace to record the greatest number of tornadoes in the continental United States in 15 years.
I think that the Salisbury area will be storm free today, so get out and take a walk and get some beneficial exercise under nice skies. Remember, however, that texting while walking can be dangerous, especially when crossing streets in heavy traffic. The safest walk would be on an enclosed track! Let’s live to enjoy another beautiful day on Delmarva tomorrow.
May is ending with an average daytime high temperature that is 6 degrees above normal. .That will mark consecutive months in 2019 where Salisbury had temperatures averaging that high. If this pattern holds then the summer could be awfully hot with several opportunities for record breaking heat.
Wetter than normal conditions have also occurred in May for the second month in a row. Salisbury has recorded a total of 3.34 inches of rain above normal for the year to date.
Ok. I’m going for a walk. I’ll be back in June!
