Change is in the air

There are many issues affecting Americans on ballots across the nation today. The weather is not among them…although the weather will change in a big way.

The SBY.wx weather station recorded 80 degrees yesterday. Salisbury recorded an official record breaking high of 81 degrees at the airport.

The unusually warm weather has come to a crashing halt as temperatures drop close to 20 degrees today. Skies will be sunny but a hefty breeze will reinforce the atmospheric change.

The blood red lunar eclipse began at 4:10 this morning and many political pundits predict that Election Day will end with an influx of added “red” seats in Washington.

While the graphic above shows that a large partisan majority of Americans fear for the health of their democracy the appearance from here is that Americans are likely instead to cast their votes based on the contents of their wallets.

Historically inflation and bad economies tend to work themselves out as time passes. The jury is out on whether a constitutional republic can withstand the divisive nature of today’s American political scene.

It is difficult to fathom that the political party that claims to have saved the Union after the Civil War could again deny the results of an election and further fracture the union that is the United States of America.

Regardless of the electoral outcome the sun will shine tomorrow with temperatures reaching about 62 degrees. A faction of voters is likely to be giddy with victory while the others may sulk in their grief. We can rely on our not so social media to sort it all out for us.

In the days ahead the weather will regain our attention as Nicole bears down on Florida and then likely sends her remains our way for some late week rain.
