Wet roads for Thanksgiving travel

Today will be a dream come true for most people on the Delmarva Peninsula as a healthy dose of rainfall will arrive by this afternoon and help put an end to the long dry spell that we have endured.

The rain may not, however, be welcomed by holiday travelers as the entire mid-Atlantic region is expected to receive between 1 and 3 inches of rain from this afternoon through Wednesday morning. Salisbury can realistically look to record about an inch and a half of rain at the very least. Rainfall could be particularly heavy overnight tonight before coming to an end tomorrow morning.

The good news amid the expected rain is that gas prices are down a bit compared to last year and that Thanksgiving dinner should run about 4.5% below last year. Airfare, on the other hand, is priced about 5% higher than last year.

Temperatures both today and tomorrow should reach near 60 degrees. Thanksgiving Day, itself, is likely to be pleasantly cooler with sunny skies and temperatures near 55 degrees.
