There will be an annular solar eclipse today. The so-called “Ring of Fire” will be spectacular west of the Mississippi River. If the day was clear Delmarva could experience approximately 20% of the eclipse. Unfortunately, we will be dealing with clouds, showers, and thunderstorms. Temperatures will only rise into the upper 60’s.
The best place to observe the eclipse would be along the path shown in the above illustration. Note that there will be a total eclipse of the sun in April of 2024. The sweet spot for observing both celestial events seems to be the Austin and San Antonio areas of Texas. Our area, however, will get a pretty good show.
Today’s steady rainfall should end as showers on Sunday morning. The daytime high on an otherwise cloudy day will only reach the upper 50’s.
