In the midst of an atmospheric river on National Ice Cream Day

Today, National Ice Cream Day, finds that the US East Coast is going to be affected by what is called an “atmospheric river”. That means that there is so much moisture in place that the predominant southwesterly flow of air will cause thunderstorms to explode across the area.

Fortunately for Delmarva the most severe outbreaks of storminess are likely to occur in the already saturated states in the Northeast. Nonetheless, the Salisbury area is very likely to experience thunderstorms today that have the potential to dump heavy amounts of rain in isolated areas. Temps today should reach the mid 80’s.

By the time Monday arrives the area should be subjected to partly cloudy conditions as daytime highs return to near 90 degrees.
