Over the next 10 days or so areas shaded in green in the map above are expected to experience jungle levels of humidity. Welcome to the July jungle!
On top of the high levels of humidity much of the nation is still dealing with smoke from Canadian wildfires. With many code red conditions existing due to poor air quality it seems quite odd that MLB officials delayed the start of a recent game in Pittsburgh due to poor air quality, only to play it in its entirety when it started. It seems a bit foolish from here.
More than 100 million Americans are under air quality alerts, including Delmarva, as July begins. Salisbury will be dealing with temperatures in the upper 80’s today, followed by what appears to be three to five consecutive days where temps are likely to reach the low 90’s. An isolated afternoon thunderstorm may be refreshing, but it is more likely that we experience thunderstorms overnight tonight into Sunday morning.
There is a slight risk of severe weather across our western counties today and a marginal risk along the I-95 corridor. The primary threats are damaging wind gusts and locally heavy rainfall, but the strongest storms may have hail as well. pic.twitter.com/oyVTFsIo58
