July has come and gone bringing to mind a number of things that boggle the mind. Here are some personal observations relating to the month of July in no particular order.
- For starters, this weather blogger and his wife were fortunate enough to take a 2 week cruise last month.
- Secondly, this weather blogger was crazy enough to continue daily posts to this blog throughout the vacation. Call me crazy if you have not yet done so.
- An all-time record high temperature of more than 104 degrees was recorded in the UK.
- Much of the nation experienced periods of turbulent weather conditions; wildfires out west, record warmth in many places, and flooding rains in Kentucky.
- Medford, Oregon reached 115 degrees, an all-time record.
- Las Vegas casinos flooded from record breaking downpours. Hopefully, what rains in Vegas stays in Vegas.
- The price of a gallon of gasoline, which reached an average of just over $5 a gallon at the beginning of the month, has dropped to just over $4 a gallon as August arrives.
- The same people who blame the president for fluctuating gas prices and inflation ignore the fact that Exxon/Mobil recorded record profits of $2245.62 a second during the past quarter. Show me how any president accounts for that!
- How do companies justify the price of a gallon of gas when oil is selling for $100 a barrel? Several years ago, when oil was selling for the same $100 a barrel a gallon of gasoline cost Americans $2.63.
- The funniest thing heard all month was that the price of gasoline has dropped so much that Ted Cruz was going to drive to Cancun this year.
- Juan Soto, a 23 year old player for the Washington Nationals, rejected a $440,000,000 contract offer.
- Millions of Americans shelled out money in hopes of winning $1,340,000,000 in the lottery this weekend. The taxes on that payoff for the winning Illinois ticket would be near what Soto rejected.
- The much maligned Baltimore Orioles, with a team payroll less than that of Mets pitcher Matt Scherzer’s annual salary, won 10 games in a row and find themselves in the middle of a pennant race. You know things are going right when your slowest player hits a whacky inside-the-park home run.
- Chik-fil-a now wants volunteers to work for food rather than pay.
- Meanwhile the Russian invasion of Ukraine has gone on for over 5 months with 75,000 Russian casualities.
- Primary elections took place in Maryland giving its residents a chance to vote for election denier Dan Cox as Larry Hogan’s successor. It is all but certain that Congressman Andy Harris will vote for Cox as it is all but certain that Harris will avoid accountability for his alleged role in the former administration’s alleged seditious activity.
- It is likely that Maryland’s next governor will be a Democrat.
- It is also likely that this weather blogger will still be represented by Andy Harris.
- It seems strange to say that one is represented by someone who shares none of one’s views.
- Cassisdy Hutchinson is now a household name.
- The noose (not the one intended for Mike Pence) seems to be tightening around those allies of the previous president, as no one has come forward to deny Hutchinson’s allegations under oath.
- Some notable personalities are soon likely to be tried and convicted of some crime or crimes related to events leading up to Joe Biden’s inauguration as the 46th President of the United States.
- As of today’s date, August 1, this blogger is more confident in being able to name the names of the likely convicted individuals than of naming the winner of the World Series or the next Super Bowl.
- 75% of Americans do not want a rematch of the last presidential election in 2 years.
- Amid all of the COVID denial each of our last two presidents have contracted it. One of them, twice.
- The average temperature in Salisbury for July 2022 was 78.4 degrees. That is not a record, but is .36 degrees above normal.
- Salisbury recorded much more rain in July 2022 than is normal…9.11 inches to be exact.
- Relatives of 9/11 victims protested the Saudi sponsored LIV golf tournament just 50 miles from the 9/11 Memorial in Bedminster, New Jersey.
- The US Senate ended the month of July by denying health benefits to burn pit victims.
- Record heat has returned to the Pacific Northwest.

Medford, Oregon surged to 115 degrees on Friday, which is 21 degrees above normal for the date and tied with the all-time record in the city. Hot weather will finally ease next week in the Northwest, but not before a scorching weekend: https://t.co/pkit7XxEa5

Fairly typical summer weather is expected in the Salisbury area on this first day of August. Some early morning showers are expected to give way to partly cloudy skies with a temperature in the mid to upper 80’s.
The heat is likely to return on Tuesday for a few days as mostly sunny skies will bring us temps in the low 90’s.
