Did we survive record cold?

The Salisbury area flirted with freezing tempertures yesterday morning.  The Mother’s Day mercury dipped to an official low of 31 degrees at KSBY, the Salisbury airport, tying the previous record for the date in 1947.  My personal blog weather station dipped to 32.4 degrees yesterday morning.

Nobody came close to Salisbury’s all time May low temperature of 28 degrees on May 5, 2003.

Some annual plants may tolerate freezing temps for very brief periods of time, but we may have to wait a few days to assess any permanent damage.

There is a slight chance that some of us may pick up a few sprinkles of rain this morning, The day will become mostly sunny and breezy with a high. temperature in the low 60’s.

We are entering an extended period of sunny skies this week. Temperatures will be in the 60’s all week before we experience a nice warm up on Friday. I would be surprised if next weekend is not spectacular.
