Francis Scott Key, while witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore from a ship in the harbor, completed a poem that he began the night before on this date in 1814 that was to become our “Star Spangled Banner”. Old Glory has been flying proudly for 205 years through all kinds of weather.
A flag flying today will be seen against a backdrop of mixed sun and clouds where most of us will see high temperatures in the low 80’s.
