Today will be partly cloudy and cold with a high temperature near 40 degrees. Snow seems likely near daybreak on Wednesday as a plume of moisture directed by the jet stream trains across Delmarva.
At the current time it appears as though some moderate snowfall may occur prior to a gradual transition to rain by early to mid afternoon on Wednesday. Expect the morning commute to be slippery with an accumulation of snowfall near 2 inches. There could also be some sleet, freezing rain, and ice by midday.
The Winter Weather Advisory issued from 6 AM to Noon on Wednesday indicates that driving conditions should be hazardous.
Once the transition to rain occurs we can expect temperatures to gradually rise throughout the evening into Thursday. The rain should end together with a bit of clearing on Thursday with temperatures nearing 60 degrees.
As the rain subsides early on Thursday nearly all hints of snow will vanish. We will have lots of standing water and some slushy conditions.
