The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for our area beginning at 4 PM today. That means that significant amounts of snow, sleet, and ice are likely. The official NWS forecast calls for an expected 3 to 5 inches of snow for the area.
What is the difference between a watch and a warning?
- A Winter Storm Watch means that we have the potential for wintry precipitation and that we should prepare for the possibility.
- A Winter Storm Warning means that the threat is imminent and that we should consider it likely to occur.
Again, I’ll keep you posted on forecast updates. Currently I expect snow to fall by evening and continue all night long into Sunday. I think Salisbury will get snow while areas south and east are more likely to experience mixed precipitation.
