I honestly believed that a moderate amount of rainfall would have already fallen as a result of Tropical Storm Michael’s race up the east coast, but the cold front that will push it out to sea has slowed down a bit.  That news is good for rush hour traffic.

The heavy rains and embedded bands of thunderstorms should arrive early this evening and pound us with heavy rainfall for a good 6 to 8 hours.  Most areas are still expected to receive from 3 to 5 inches of rain in a short amount of time, soon to be accompanied by strong northwest winds.  Here are expected wind gust estimates from the National Weather Service.

Areas of flooding are still expected and areas to our south are also at risk of isolated tornadoes.
