My father took me to my first baseball game at Baltimore’s Memorial Stadium on this date in 1957. Billy Loes pitched a complete game 3 hitter in 2 hours and 3 minutes (Yes, games were that fast back in the day.) before a crowd of 9,703 as the Orioles defeated the Kansas City A’s. To this day I remember being enthralled by the greenest grass I had ever seen in my life. I remember that it was a sunny day with bright blue skies when my dad and I sat down in our seats on the third base line behind the dugout. Today, even though the Orioles are not winning on a regular basis, I’m happy to share the same love of baseball with my son as my dad did with me.
Baseball weather should be pretty good today. The next couple of days should be cooler.
