The allied invasion of Normandy was originally planned for June 5, 1944. Plans were changed at the last minute, however, due to what has become known as the “most important weather forecast in history.” The following graphic illustrates the utter importance of this particular forecast.
Years after the war was over General Dwight Eisenhower, who would later become President of the United States, said the reason the invasion was so successful is “because we had better meteorologists than the Germans!”
Today’s weather will be considerably cooler with a few clouds around. Thursday should bring comfortable weather as well.
